However, it worked out pretty well that I spent the night at Miloâs. He lives next to a big park, and I spent almost the whole time we were there hearing his corny jokes and practicing all kinds of cool soccer moves.
Carmen was there too. I tell ya, he could be a coach if he wanted to! He was super good at making me understand how to juggle and dribble like a pro soccer player. It was fun to learn all kinds of cool passes and tricks with the ball. I couldnât wait to use some of my new skills in tryouts. Iâd be practicing my new skills nonstop!
After that, we headed to Miloâs backyard. His grandpa sat on the porch, watching us dribble and juggle, and giving me some tips. The funny thing is, we knew more about soccer than him, which is unusual because his grandpa knows pretty much everything about sports.
I practiced my dribbling and shooting goals into Miloâs doghouse until it got dark and the back porch light didnât help anymore.
Miloâs dog, Tank, was chasing the soccer ball and tripping us. Miloâs grandpa put him in the house, but the dog just barked and jumped up over and over, trying to get out.
Meanwhile, Miloâs grandpa was acting like a referee, handing us red cards and yellow cards and reading a book he got at the library about soccer. He was yelling out facts and game-play strategies.
Milo finally decided to take a break. He ran into the house and came back out with a giant submarine sandwich.
âMmm . . .â He drooled and then took a massive bite.
